Convert an Excel document to a standalone exe file.

    Good day all,

I am sitting with a dilema, my company is removing excel from our pc's at work. We are using excel as our main source of collecting and combing production figures of almost 150 employees. I was thinkin that if I convert the current excel documents into standalone exe files, which is not dependant of excel, i could still be able to do the same performance analyses without excel?

My company will also not approve the installation of any free or open source software.

Do any of you have any suggestions?

Thanx a mill, I know someone has got a bright idea for me.

    1) Don't do anything on your company PC that is forbidden. That sounds like it would include fancy solutions to the question you've asked since that would qualify as "free or open source software". Then use the tools the company gives you as a replacement for Excel. How are they having you continue to do your analysis now that they are removing Excel?

    2) Get your own laptop/PC (a couple hundred invested in your own hardware), then do what you want on there. Keep Excel.

    3) Use Google Docs? That's not on your computer. That's on the web.

    4) Use Office 365, also on the web.

Thanx a mill for the reply. DO not worry, I will not do something stupid. hie hie. it is my job thats on line here.

I will do the reccomendation on Office 365 aswell as opensource, but at this stage all indications are, that there will be no replacement for Excel or for that matter Office as a whole.

Yes I do have my own pc at home, so I can still do the analyses, but I need info to do it from. The info is supplied by each employee by capturing a database of entries on Excel.

I am not crying, just giving you some info.

We've got a huge challenge ahead of us with this. All recommendations or suggestions would be gr8.

    Thanx a mill.

talk to corporate IT. if they're removing the tools you use to do your job they oughta replace them and if not you need to explain that to your boss and maybe theirs too. at face value this sounds like the dumbest decision I've ever heard

Or just an option, use Portable Ms-Office which don't need any installation just require some space in your hard disk
