can enter a text even with a validation list formula in the column

Hi,

I have validation list programmed in a column where if I choose 1, set of 1 drop down list will show up and if I choose 2, set of 2 drop down will show up
but my problem is if I choose 10, I want the user write on the cell which is not possible now because the entire column is programmed in validation list

In the Data Validation window, go to the "Error Alert' tab and uncheck the box to the left of "Show error alert after invalid data is entered."
