webquery in excel - excel does not retrieve html links

Also posted on another forum ages ago, but didn't get any response there, so trying here again...

For reasons I'll not bore you with right now, I am grabbing data from GEIZHALS.DE
However, I _HAVE_ to do this through http://www.google.com/gwt/n

    So, for example this link

Now, when it shows up just in internet explorer, it shows just the text on the page (like I want it) with all the html links embedded.
When I import that page to excel, it loses the links on most of the rows.
For example - the row with "[Image] Nikon 1 J1 (EVIL) rot mit Objektiv 10mm 2.8 (VVA155K002) 11 Angebote ab € 299,-- 37 Angebote ab € 299,--" should have a html hyperlink in it, but after importing it to excel it's gone.

I have no clue on how to fix this - I hope anyone can help me with it.

so PLEASE have a look and see if you can help me find and understand the answer.
Not using google.com/gwt/n is not an option at the moment.

    Thanks a lot in advance!

Not exactly sure how you're creating the link, but I did this:
    Went to Excel
    Data --> From web
    Put your link in
There's a dialogue box, on the top right is Options...
    Click this
    Select:
    Formatting:
Full HTML formatting (from default: plain text)

Re: webquery in excel - excel does not retrieve html links

That's the problem exactly - if you do with full HTML formatting, it will still not copy the HTML links to the excel sheet.
Please take a second to actually try and import the link http://www.google.com/gwt/x?noimg=1&...s%3Dnikon+1+j1
Once it's in excel, it doesn't have the HTML links anymore on the parts where it says [IMAGE].
It seems like any link that's not in the first column on the webpage is not copied over... it's driving me nuts

The link has stopped working for me, both in-browser and retrieving through Excel, but why can't you use the link in column A?

Ah, working now. I understand the issue, you're looking at the links further down the page.
I'm afraid I don't know how to fix this.

    Hi Charlie,

thanks for checking it for me. I'm stumped myself as well - for me it does not make sense that excel is skipping these, but haven't found anyone who can provide me with a solution...
    Sigh
