Have cell display text while being empty

I will try to explain what I want the end result to be. I thought it would be through using conditional formatting, but a user suggested me ask the question over here. I want to have my customer name listed in a certain cell. But when it doesn't have a specific customer name typed in the cell and it is empty, I want it to have the words "Customer Name" in a gray shade. Is this possible? And how is it done?

    Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum

Apart from using VBA, the only way I can think of to do what you want, is to have that text in all the cells in the 1st place, before you enter the customer names. However, the formatting will remain when you enter a customer name, so if you dont want it grey, you will have to reformat each time.

As far as Conditional Formatting is concerned, I dont think that will help here either, sorry
    1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
