Post .txt to excel, modification in contents & then back to .txt without changing format.

    Hi,
Need your expert advice on converting .txt file to excel and then again to .txt without altering the original format of txt file.

Please find the txt file as attached.
Some contents need to be modified after converting it to excel, then again the file needs to be saved in .txt .
But whenever i do it , its orginal format gets changed.

I want to save it in orginal format without even reducing the spaces.

    Regards

    Hi,

    See if this works.

Copy and paste all the text to a cell.say A1.. ( Don't use text to column)
Now all the text will be in Column A1,A2...

Find and Replace, the text you would like to.

    Save as Text(MS-DOS) (*.txt).

This txt file will have double quotes " in each line beginning and end. Open the txt file in word pad. Click replace..

Type " in find box and leave empty in replace box.. All the quotes should have been replaced. The original text and the converted text should look same.

See attached examples. I have replaced RELIANCE with ETA...

    test_CHECK.txttxt2excel.xlsx

Re: .txt to excel, modification in contents & then back to .txt without changing format.

    Hi Elayaz
This solution is ok if i want to replace some particular content with only one content. But, it doesnt work when a content is to be replaced with different different contents. e.g. There is a column in text file with contents 'AB31'. i want to replace AB31 with different codes depending upon the name of the scrip (e. RELIANCE) . and for this purpose, i must have to open the file in excel & then replace the records by filtering or sorting.

    pls provide some other solution.
    thanks for your time
