Macro asking to select the folder and open file.

Dear All,

On monthly basis, I have to update excel file from files prepared on daily basis. ( ie to select 30 different sub-folder and open 30 different files ).

Kindly let me know the macro which will ask me to select the sub-folder and open the file --> copy the data --> Paste Special the data in monthly file --> Close the file.
Again ask me to select next sub-folder --> copy the data --> Paste Special the data in monthly file --> Close the file.
And so on ...... till reached the last sub-folder.

Have you considered using hyperlink formulas to write filepaths which don't exist yet? Would save a considerable amount of time.

This seems very long winded process.

I would not even contemplate going down that route.

If I were in your shoes then I would do the following:-

Create a List of folder paths in Excel.

write a macro to read down your list

copy your data and paste into your macro.


This way all you need to modify is one sheet if more sheets are added or sheets are removed or folders are moved or file names are changed.

If you want to purse my solution then let us have a sample file path, a sample file and a copy of your master with instructions on what you need copied across.
