Can't access macros in personal.xlsb workbook from macros in a second workbook

I can only access macros in my personal.xlsb workbook from other macros in the same workbook. When attempting to access these macros from a macro in a second workbook, I get the message "Compile Error - Sub or Function Not Defined." In the Project section of the VBA window, I can see and manipulate all macros in the personal.xlsb workbook and see and manipulate all macros in the second workbook. If I insert the modules that are in the personal.xlsb workbook into the second workbook, everything works OK. What am I missing?

I beleieve I have seen this when I open another instance of Excel instead of opening another workbook in excel.
If you open a second instance of excel you may get a warning because the personal macro workbook is already open.

Re: Can't access macros in personal.xlsb workbook from macros in a second workbook

Dave, my VBA is pretty much non-existent, but when I open another instance of excel (in my case 2007 and 2003) I get an error message telling me that personal.xlsb is already in use.

So my point is (and Im probably talking out the back of my head lol), if the OP is runing another instance of excel, woouldnt they get that error message 1st?

edit: Just tried to open another instance of excel (2007) and got that same error message
    1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

My problem is occurring with only one instance of Excel open. Any ideas? Thanks

Re: Can't access macros in personal.xlsb workbook from macros in a second workbook

I ended up side-stepping the problem by placing the frequently used macros in an Excel Add-In file and referencing the add-in in the VBE references. Thanks for everybody's input.
