Exclamation Help with highlighting data from a hyperlink

    Hello,

    New to the forums here.

I have tried (in vain) to locate a resource to help me do what I want for an Excel spreadsheet.

I have a worksheet that has multiple hyperlinks in it. These hyperlinks connect to various different sheets and cells in the spreadsheet. This part I can do with no problem.

Here is my conundrum: I would like for each hyperlink (when it is clicked) to link to the correct cell/data and then have that appropriate cell/data highlighted. After the user leaves this spreadsheet, then I would like the highlighting to disappear. Please note that the sheets to which the hyperlinks take you, do have colors already on them (i.e. in headers, table rows, etc.)...so this un-highlight function cannot just make the entire worksheet blank (i.e. without color).

I hope this is clear enough, and I hope somebody can help me ASAP.

    Many thanks,
    Jon

See the attached file written and tested in Excel 2003 on a Vista 32 bit system.
This should work in your version of Excel.

    What the attached file does:
This colors a cell containing a Hyperlink after the Hyperlink is activated.
This works on any sheet in the workbook.
On File Exit, the cells that were colored are uncolored and the file is saved.
Cells that had color are not changed.

    Known Limitations:
    a. When a hyperlinked file can't be found, Excel issues a warning message, and the cell is NOT COLORED.
    b. When a hyperlinked Internet file (url) can't be found, Excel issues a warning message, and the cell is IS COLORED.
