Excel co-ordinate system

    Excel co-ordinate system

    I placed an oval shape with top 100 left 100 height 30 and width 30 into an excel sheet using VBA code. I don't understand were excel puts it on the excel sheet. Could someone please explain

    100,100 is relative to top left of worksheet.

    use ALT+F10 to display Selection and Visibilty task pane to make sure shape is present and visible

    It should be placed 100 points below and to the right from the left top corner of the worksheet

    That depends on many things. There is not a fixed association because a cell size can vary. 1 point = 1/72 inch

    0,0 is the top left of the worksheet
    .height and .width are the sizes of the cell/shape and .top .left are the positions of the cell/shape.

    So for example
    0+A1.width,0 would be the top left of cell B1.

    Ok so if I place a shape 100 from the top and 100 from the left its (100*1/72) 1.39 inches from the top and 1.39 inches from the left?
