Keeping alternate cell background colors when filtering and hiding rows

I have an extensive spreadsheet of data and I would like to highlight every other row with a specific color. I have no problem doing so with the following conditional formatting statement:

However, I frequently sort and hide rows and when doing the rows do not highlight properly and eventually I am having to manually color them. Are there any ways to achieve what I am wanting?

I am using sheet protection to protect certain cells after date is entered so it cannot be modified. I do not believe tables work well with sheet protection.
