    Open a file on the desktop

    How do you open a file on the desktop? I tried this

    but it's not working.

    Oh, I figured it out!! I used

    but now it says excel cannot access days, the document may be read only or encrypted. How do I get around this?

    Oh, now I got it to work, I had to add the name of the file (duh!!), but there was an error when I added ".xls" at the end. Why is this? Also, it came up minimized? Why would this be? Thanks.

    The way my PC is set up, you need Workbooks.Open Filename:= _
    "C:\Documents and Settings\user\Desktop\Monday.xls"


    (But I am still using XP!)

    Try recording the macro to get the correct syntax.
