text messages with excel

Question for someone that likes to think out of the box!

During my day at work I get text messages on my phone. It drives me crazy to have to pick up my phone and type on the smallest keyboard know to man so I started thinking. What if I can text from a excel sheet as if I were on my phone? I know a little bit about VB so as far as sending a text from Excel.. that part is fairly easy. I could build a send button and just add what I text to next blank line to the number/address inserted in another cell. Question is for someone way smarter than I... how would I receive a text into the excel sheet? I thought about setting a timer, but how could I connect to my verizon phone service to pick up the new text?? Is this possible... am I crazy or just a touch off? Gotta be someone out there that has thought of this!?

You can send sms via email. But receiving sms outside of the cellphone is a service. Google Voice's phone # offers free sms to email. I give my google number and have it routed back to my cell. I log into my email to review my sms conversations

Thanks for that info. I know about that service but I've never used it. I'll have to play with it and see what I can figure out. If I could just have my screen open on the phone and text from my computer that would be sweet.
