    Re: Ignore Protected view

    May you not just enable editing, or will the files actually not open because of the file type restrictions?

    The files will not open. I have tried modifying the setting in the trust center.

    fName = Dir("*.xls")
    Do While Len(fName) > 0
    Application.DisplayAlerts = False
    Workbooks.OpenText Filename:=fName _

    It gives me a "run-time error. Office has detected a problem with this file. To help protect your computer the file cannot be opened."

    Is there an ignore command?

    Why do you use OpenText to open an .xls file? May you open the file manually or is it the same error?

    I can open the file manually but the protected view warning comes up. I cannot make changes but can copy to another file. If I "enable saving" when I try to save it, the file becomes normal....

    there must be a ProtectedView.ignore ? Or some way to open the file.

    Application.ProtectedViewWindows.Open Filename:=fName
    Application.ActiveProtectedViewWindow.Edit
