Function Alarm

Hey Guys

I desperately need some help for my work. Gonna lose my job if I don't find a solution on this. I'm a vba newbie. Please bear with me if you think I'm asking silly questions. I'm looking for a way for Excel to give me a audio sound alert if a cell exceeds a certain threshold value. Assuming the cell that I'm looking at is A5 and the threshold value is 1000, what should be the code? I came across a User defined function called 'Alarm' on some of the forums. How does that help?
