Hello,

I am new to this forum but an experienced excel user. I have been working on a project for 9 months now and have run into all sorts of different problems with Excel crashing. However, up until recently, Excel seemed to be decently stable while I have been developing. I believe there was a recent update for Office on Mac, which I downloaded, but I do not know if that is the problem.

The problem:
Right now, Excel is crashing almost all the time when I have two workbooks open (they are not linked). I first noticed the problem when trying to save either workbook. Currently it looks as though the crashing problem is isolated to Excel and only when I have two workbooks open (I am able to edit and save one workbook at a time okay.) However, my project work requires me to be able to have both workbooks open or it is much much harder (and slower) for me to work.

The files are not what I would consider "large", but they are ~10MB each.

Also, within the past couple of months I have started seeing an error message when opening these Excel files stating "Not enough memory", "Continue without undo?" These error messages only show up some of the time and I would be shocked if my memory is really an issue (see my system specs below)

Solutions tried already:
I have tried running my mac in safe mode and removing startup items that could be interfereing with Excel but that did not work. I tried to removing the plist file from the Library folder to see if that was the issue (recommended on another forum) and that did not work. I have tried verifying and repairing any disk permissions (after the solutions above) and that has not helped.

My system:
Macbook Pro Retina Mid 2012
processor: 2.6ghz INtel Core i7
RAM: 16 GB
OSX 10.9.4
HD Space: 240 of 380 available

Can anybody help??? I am already behind on project work due to this issue. I am willing to supply any more information that could be useful in diagnosing/solving this problem (except the files).

Thanks in advance,
