I've inserted some images into a file, check the 'Link to file' box. However, when the original file is modified it does not update the image in the excel file. [No files have been moved so path remains the same.]
Linked, inserted images don't update.

Have you attempted to refresh the link?

i don't know of a way to 'refresh' Inserted Image [Picture] links. Can you explain?
On the Ribbon, Data-->Refresh All.
No luck with that. I assume that Refresh is for data, rather than images.
mmm? Did a search on linked images in Google. Seems it makes a difference if the images are linked or embedded. Since I am not sure which is your case, you may want to google "refresh linked images in excel" or "refresh embedded images in excel." There are lots of hits on both of these and only you know what you have.
