Question Get Values from Multiple Merged Cell Headers

    Hi there,

I have an example Excel sheet as per attached.

This table is very dynamic and can change every time in terms of column or row position but the column headings itself is standard.

In this example, I need a formula (much preferred) returning a value -

    a) I need to find the % value of Employee in Row 5 with Type 1 - Product 1 which is "0"
    b) I need to find the % value of Employee in Row 6 with Type 0 - Product 2 which is "25"

    Is this something easily done?

    Hi and welcome
DO NOT use merged cells. It's one for Xl's worse features and a real pain for analyzing data.(almost impossible)
Changing your data to a simple column layout would be much easier to analyze / work with

Hi there, thanks for the prompt reply. I understand that it is best to not use merged cells, but the system that exports the data does create these merged cells and I cannot change that.

How have you arrived at these figures? What's the calculation you have used?

These are figures directly created from an external export

OK - let's try again: where is the manual mock-up of what you want to do?

What do you expect to see? Where do you expect to see it? How does Excel know which column/row combination to look at?

Re: Get Values from Multiple Merged Cell Headers

This is reminiscent of the format types of Excel that Sage and Quickbooks used to export.
In the distant past we used to overcome this by exporting as a .csv then opening the file with Excel.
Everything was then neatly tabulated, all you had to do was guess at the 'headers'.
Is it possible to obtain your export as a .csv rather than .xlsx. ????
