Hello,
I need to make a formula that will allow the number of hours on the July tab to increase depending on how many times an instructors name appears on the Instructors by day tab. Which version of the Mac product do you have?
Please read the forum rules on thread titles - we don't allow generic ones. As you are new, I will change this one for you as a courtesy.
There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook (yellow banner: HOW TO ATTACH YOUR SAMPLE WORKBOOK). Screenshots are of little practical use as we cannot manipulate them.
A good sample workbook has just 10-20 rows of representative data that has been desensitised. It also has expected results mocked up, worked examples where required, relevant cells highlighted and a few explanatory notes.

Names in column A of the July sheet will need to match the names in the by day sheet exactly. You will need to change this.
How would you suggest I format that on the by day sheet if there were more than 1 instructor for a class? I found putting the names in the same cell to be the easiest to read.

If I want to make the formula dynamic so that I can add dates on the by day while the July sheet numbers increases, how would I alter it to include the entire sheet?
If you are asking about increasing the number of rows of dates then in Excel the data on the Instructors by day (July) sheet could be converted into a table and then use structured references in AliGW's formula:Formula:

If you are asking about increasing the number columns, then try changing the above formula by exchanging [Joshiley] with the column header of the rightmost column (inclosed on square brackets []).
That said, not sure if structured references work in googlesheets.
