Post Breaking Excel One FUBAR Leap in Logic at a Time!

    Hello fellow maths magicians!

I have taken University, private and independent courses on how to expertly use Excel over many years, and love to tinker in my workbooks all the time. Using XL is not very difficult after a certain point, and with not too much effort one can become more proficient with excel than is reasonable for any basic office task in the real world. I tend towards the unreasonable, however...

My projects usually start out with actual, necessary and real-world problems I need solving. These include personal finance tracking and planning, business resource management, advanced calculation for mechanical engineering algorithms, and perhaps the most important: videogame efficiency calculators to lay the smack-down on RTS's and whatnot.

As of the time of posting, there is a particular thing I'm trying to accomplish. The specific goal that lead me to the internet today was to learn how to check a cell against a given array; to check the date and see if it was a listed holiday or not. Use the =COUNTIF() function, by the way(ver. 2007). I then thought about how far I could take that idea, and in the end I'm aiming at building a calendar GUI that shows you the month, like a normal calendar, and display certain information about those given days based on a list of whatever you wanna put in that list for stuff to do on certain days.

But Tok, I hear you saying, why not just use a personal assistant app on your phone, tablet, PC, TV, or fridge? Because I use Excel for EVERYTHING. And, because I'm using this data to calculate projections on the harvest season while making a butt-ton of cider this year. Might as well compile that data into a familiar, cohesive and visually pleasing form, and improve my general programming and logic skills along the way.

This time, I'ma blog about it. We'll see how long I keep this up...

    Cheers!
