    Excel semi-rookie

    Hi,

I'm old - seriously. But I still work and I really like Excel. I've been searching around for a template for a WBS, or iBOM, with very little luck. What I want is pretty simple, but can't seem to find it, and don't have the macro skills to develop it myself.

What I know of macros (you could stick in your ears and still hear just fine) it seems that it shouldn't be that complicated. I'll try to present a visual of what I'm after - don't know if an Excel copy will hold form: Nuts, it doesn't

    INDENT--1--2--3--4--5--6--7--8--------NAME-------PART NO-------QTY
    1----------X --------------------------------BLAH--------2706-4------------1
    2-------------X-----------------------------BLAH--------2132-16-----------2
    3----------------X--------------------------BLAH 3-----23001------------- 4

I had to use a bunch of dashes to get data to hold to columns.

Okay, hopefully you get the idea. It seems to me, being the dummy I am, that a simple formulat that says something like =IF(A1=1) THEN (B1= X) (something like that). Like I said, my macro skills are almost non-existent. I simply want the macro to put an X in the right column based on the number I enter in the first (Indent) column. The rest is manually entered. Maybe I'm over-simplifying this, but it seems like . . .

    Thanks
