Excel running at 25% on XP

My comppany just up[graded my computer that now has an intel i5-2520M processor. When I run excel on it the cup ussage tops out at 25%. Needless to say that my long excel calculations with macros have a much linger run time. Can I control the CPU usage?
    Thanks!
    GrayDog.

The processing run in the EXL will compromise resources i.e. ARRAYS and long nested formulae, or a few thousand VLOOKS all add to this payload
I always suggest keep Excel slim trim and not bloated

Try to close Excel and see the CPU in Task Manager et el .. see if there’s a big drop

Without seeing the Spreadsheet its kind of hard to say, look in to bloats and wastes and unnecessary stuff – formatting, long formulae, complex off sheet / book connections etc
Just good housekeeping and the overall KB’s of the file, in conjunction of other M$ Windows in operation
