ABD ABD =IF(B1=A1,3,0)
ABD AD Here AD is matching so the input should be 2
ABCD A 1
ABCD CDAB 4
ABD DB 2 LIKE THIS I WANT

In all your examples, every letter in B also occurs in A. What should happen if it isn't?
For example, A2 = ABCD. B2 = BCF?
If you want to count how many letters matched between cells in column B and cells in Column A please try this formula:

brother one more help i needed. ignoring (commas), can we count the letters.

How do i calculate matching letters ignoring , commas no of letters formula should be in column C.
Please help

A2=A,B,C,D
A3=C,D
B1=A,B,C
B2=A,C,D,B
B3=A,D
C1=3
C2=4
C3=1

This formula counts only the letters (uppercase and lowercase).
