I had a calendar in pbi created in power query but wanted to add a year month column using DAX in pbi,

I tried using

, in the add column feature but could not do it I just got the date back
in the end I used

I know that does work when building from scratch,

so why doesn't the format work in the column, or am I doing it wrong.
