    Formula to remove Symbol from a Cell

    Hi All

    I am seeking to remove symbols which appear in my data to display name without spaces at the end.

    Currently I am encountering two symbols
    Example 1: *Tim Jones *↗
    Example 2: *Tim Jones ↙

    I've tried using a combination IF,OR and Substitute but excel doesnt like my attempt (see example). Even when I focussed on one of the symbols I found I could remove the symbol but not the additional space that comes along with it.

    Attached is an example my attempts to identify the symbol and the error I am getting.

    Would love some help.

    =TRIM(IFERROR(IFERROR(LEFT(A3,FIND("↗",A3)-1),LEFT(A3,FIND("↙",A3)-1)),A3))

    Thank you this works well except there is still a space on the first row and I cant identify the cause, The subsequent rows are perfect

    I've reattached sample which might provide more context

    Which formula are you referring to?

    The workbook in the first post has not changed - there would be an edit note bottom left if it had been. Try again, please.
