Power Bi, Data Model , table not visible,

    Hi,
I'm hoping this is going to be straightforward ,
I have a table created in Pbi, two columns start date and end date,

    DATE(YEAR(TODAY()),1,1) and end date EDATE([Sdate],36) -1

I wanted to use these to as the starting points for building a calendar , but I they can't be seen when I use new table and
then Calendar, auto, says could not find date , time type in model , I have checked the formatting, I'd prefer to used calendar,
what am I doing, not dong?

    Richard.

I don't really get your question. Those are Excel formulas, not M or DAX, so how exactly have you got "a table created in Pbi"?

I think I did it through Home, enter data, and then add column.

Might be simpler if you just post the pbix file.

I've attached the file as text,

it , hopefully, has a two column table start and end dates, which I then wanted to use with calendar or calendar auto.

CALENDARAUTO is not going to work with dates in calculated columns, so this approach is fundamentally flawed. I don't really understand what the point here is, so I can't comment beyond that.

Re: Power Bi, Data Model , table not visible,

The point is to create a calender, using a a date from another table, , so I created a start and end date in excel table loaded that and could then
use new table calendarauto, but I still could not use calendar? is it possible or do I just use the DATE( function, with the ordinary calendar ?

I have a more interesting PQ question, so won't drag this on just possible , not possible and I'll mark it up solved.

Re: Power Bi, Data Model , table not visible,

But why? The whole point of that function is that it creates a calendar table suitable for your actual data.

Re: Power Bi, Data Model , table not visible,

Why what? if you mean calendar, as you know I use p pivot and just create a calendar obvously using the build in feature,
    .
But I'm not sure how to use either calendar or auto? In the Sqlbi, they have this construction,

Please Login or Register to view this content.
Which looks fine, but I am unable to replicate it, I cannot get to the dates in the 'sales' table, or whatever I've called it, so I'm just left to use auto
which may not always be what I want.

Re: Power Bi, Data Model , table not visible,

just to finish the penny has finally dripped, I have to use cal auto, and then I can get to use variable to access the source dates and filter.

    Duh,
