    Question Excel 365 Protect Workbook still allowing edits by other users

    Hello Excel gurus!

    I have office 365, and my team uses a lot of shared documents, however, we need to limit edits to only the original user. I tried using the "protect worksheet" option, however, other users were still able to edit the document. Why would this be happening? They should need the password to make any edits, but even without the password, they were able to edit the excel file.

    Any advice on what to try?

    Your title says "Protect Workbook" and your post says "protect worksheet". These are two different things. Which one are you doing?

    If all cells are locked on a protected worksheet, there is no way anybody is able to edit it.

    Protecting a workbook prevents certain structural changes (e.g., deleting a worksheet) but does not prevent a user from editing it.

    Hi,
    apologies for the confusion.
    What I need to do is prevent unauthorized users from updating data in a spreadsheet, but they should still be able to filter on columns to find data. However, authorized users do need to be able to add/edit/sort data when necessary.
