Question How can I change cells to show numerical times.

Sorry if I have forgot how to do this but many years ago I lost 95% of my memory when I was in a coma. Can some kind person show me how I can get this list to show in numerical order.
    12.50 San
    1.25 San
    2.00 San
    2.35 San
    3.10 San
    3.45 San
    4.20 San
    1.00 Weth
    1.32 Weth
    2.07 Weth
    2.42 Weth
    3.17 Weth
    3.50 Weth
    4.25 Weth
    1:40 Muss
    2:15 Muss
    2:50 Muss
    3:25 Muss
    4:00 Muss
    4:35 Muss

What I need is to be able to select these cells and het presto the sheet will show 12.50 San at the top and 4.35 Muss at the bottom. Please make it easy.

    Welcome to the forum.

Which VERSION of Excel do you have?

There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook (yellow banner: HOW TO ATTACH YOUR SAMPLE WORKBOOK). Screenshots are of little practical use as we cannot manipulate them.

A good sample workbook has just 10-20 rows of representative data that has been desensitised. It also has expected results mocked up, worked examples where required, relevant cells highlighted and a few explanatory notes.

Also, post a sample file, as your "times" appear to be a random mixture of colons and decimal points.

Re: How can I change cells to show numerical times.

Thanks to those who have come back on this. I haven't used Excel for over 20 years and as explained earlier my memory isn't great.
I use Excel as part of my annual subscription to Microsoft but only use MS Word on a regular basis. The Excel file won't show you much more than I have submitted. All i'm trying to get Excel to do is to reconfigure the cells so that they start with 12.50 San and finishing with 4:35 Muss in time order. Is this possible?

Yes it will. That is why I asked you to provide it. In your post you showed a mix of . and : as separators. Is that REALLY the case? Help us to help you and PROVIDE the file as requested.

Also you haven't answered the question about the Excel product. It can be found from the account page.

Re: How can I change cells to show numerical times.

Il tried to my best to guide you solve your problem. You can solve your problem by follow these instructions.

    Select the Data:

Click and drag to highlight all the cells containing your list.

    Sort the Data:

Look for the "Sort Ascending" or "Sort Descending" button. It's usually in the top menu under the "Data" or "Home" tab.
Click it to organize your list numerically. This will arrange the times from the smallest to the largest or vice versa.

    Custom Sort (if needed):

If the automatic sort doesn't quite get it right due to mixed formats, go to the "Sort" option (usually in the "Data" tab).
In the "Sort" dialog box, choose the column containing your times in the "Sort by" dropdown.
Set "Values" in the "Sort On" dropdown.
Pick "Smallest to Largest" or "Largest to Smallest" in the "Order" dropdown.
Click "OK" to apply the sort.

By following these steps, you'll have your list neatly sorted with the earliest time at the top and the latest time at the bottom. Adjust the column and row references based on where your data is located in your spreadsheet.

Nicoles has been PMd by me twice about this - I've had no response. If they don't respond to my latest PM, they will be banned.
