Unhappy Help with Formula to fill across cells/columns

    hi
I am a total newbie to excel but really really need help for a work project.
i have a spreadsheet with 6 columns, and loads of rows.
the 1st column (A) has questions, and the second (B) has the option to enter "N" and the 3rd(C) column is for "Y", the remaining columns will be filled with numbers.

What I am looking for is a formula (which I had before but on a version which was deleted) for, if the user enters "N" into the 2nd (B) column it will then fill across the remaining columns on that row.

thanks for the help in advance, i have spent the whole day trying to figure this out and am very close to tears.

Probably the simplest way to do this is:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

(Assuming your data starts on row 2 - if it starts on row 1, then use $B1 instead.) Just drag the formula across the columns and rows you need.

    ps welcome to the forum

Edit: I've just seen your other (newer) thread with the same question. As I've said there, please don't post the same question in multiple threads. I expect that the moderators will close your other thread.

I recently started a new job so am a bit busy and may not reply quickly. Sorry - it's not personal - I will reply eventually.
If your problem is solved, please go to 'Thread Tools' above your first post and 'Mark this Thread as Solved'.
If you use commas as your decimal separator (1,23 instead of 1.23) then please replace commas with semi-colons in your formulae.
You don't need to give me rep if I helped, but a thank-you is nice.

Re: Help with Formula to fill across cells/columns

    Welcome to Excel Forum.
My suggested solution is pretty much the same as Aardigspook.
It is hard for me to visualize your setup, however I gave it a try in the attached file. The formula that is used to populate columns D, E and F is:
    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.
If that doesn't help then I suggest that you upload a sample spreadsheet with the expected values (those that you want the formula to produce) manually inserted. To attach a sample workbook click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.
Let us know if you have any questions.

Re: Help with Formula to fill across cells/columns

    You're welcome.
If that's solved your problem, please take a moment to mark the thread as Solved so other users know there's an answer here (instructions in my sig).

    A free follow-up :
If I understand you correctly, you've got Yes / No options in columns B and C. It would be easier (unless there's something I'm not aware of) to just make this a choice in column B, which you can do using Data Validation (on the Data tab). The attached file has this working, along with an IF statement to enter 'n/a' if 'No' is selected in column B. If this isn't what you want, feel free to ignore it!
