    Indirect Formulas and Closed Workbooks

    Hello

I have a spreadsheet that uses a calculated year to date sum from a row range in a closed workbook. Due to the size of the model, I'd prefer it not to have to open it to update the value in the current workbook. I can see that an add-in "MOREFUNC" had a function to address this, INDIRECT.EXT but it isn't supported in Excel 2013, that I'm using.

Has anyone worked out a way around this issue please ?

I need my current file to bring forward the current values to get rid of my #ref errors

The formula uses concatenation and indirect formula in combination to stitch together a filepath and cell link.

Power Query (aka Get&Transform) lets you read data from a closed workbook.
For Excel 2013 you need the add-on.
You can download it here: https://www.microsoft.com/nl-nl/down....aspx?id=39379
    Cheers!

Thanks for your help. I'm going to have to ask one of our IT architects to check it out before install but this does look promising
