Editable Pivot Tables - Edit Directly into a pivot cell

Has anyone cracked the code on how edit data directly into a pivot table and then have it saved directly to the data-source either as a what if scenario or override existing data?

Any help would be greatly appreciated?

Were you actually asking about code, or did you want an intro like this one?

Thank you for the reply! The microsoft example is for OLAP cubes and it requires Office 2010. I need code that will allow me to do it in office 2007 and within a local datatable (so just a regular pivot table).

Since you can't type in a pivot table data cell in 2007 and prior, I think you're out of luck. (your profile says you are using 2010, so I assumed that's what you were talking about).

I have seen it done...just do not know how to do it. Excel 2010 requires OLPAL for that functionality. Thank you anyway!

Re: Editable Pivot Tables - Edit Directly into a pivot cell

I suggest you ask whoever did it then.
pre 2010 it is not built-in functionality with any sort of pt and since, as I said, you can't actually type over a data value, I'm not sure what you saw. I don't doubt something could be done with code, but it's more of a project to my mind than a forum question.
If you're lucky someone else here may have the time to take it on, but I'm afraid I don't.

I found this which is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. If you download the tutorial, it show you each step with screenshots.

I was hoping one of you might figure out how to do that without me having to spend money to purchase it.
