Are you getting this error only on that thread or on other threads also?

Must be you ... worked fine for me (twice). Not to say there isn't a problem, but it doesn't happen to everyone. TMS

The error occurs in display mode 'hybrid' and 'threaded'

    Re: fatal error

As you might have noticed in the error message: it's referring to /home/eforum/public_html/includes/functions_threadedmode.php , which is definitely not on my computer but part of the forum software.

    Re: fatal error

@snb: given that the forum still plummets into a death spiral on a frequent, if irregular, basis, I'm not sure what else you might expect. Our intrepid Tech Team must be too busy with their spades shoveling sh.... to be able to thank anyone for anything.

    Re: fatal error

Even right now, we are suffering slow refresh, replies to posts not being reflected in the User CP or the sub-forum, and potential duplicate posts from the "you must wait ... before posting" issues.

Remind me again when the backup takes place ...

Sickening for a crash, yet again, I fear.

    Re: fatal error

Due to sudden spikes in server load, the forum tends to be non-responsive. The tech team is working with the server team in narrowing down on the root causes of the sudden surge in load.

    Re: fatal error

The server is too busy at the moment. Please try again later. Ho hum, what can I say?

Oh, Arlette, Arlette, Arlette, I do applaud the solidarity you demonstrate towards the Tech Team. However, the reality is that the Tech Team are just not up to the job and are no closer to the root cause of the problems that have plagued the board for months ... and it cannot be put down to backups. it is time that Vai paid for some professional help, or even some gifted "amateurs" to review the servers, disk capacity/usage, database structure, indexes, optimisation of the VB software, and so on.

Don't get me wrong. I think this forum is one of the busiest and friendliest around and I have no plans to abandon ship. And it is a lot calmer now the politics have died down ... but at what cost? Lots of the really talented contributors are playing in other people's gardens, and either never come back or just pay occasional visits. But it is still a source of great frustration to me and I'm sure it must be off-putting for others.

    Regards, TMS
