    Please Remove Pop-ups

    Are the facebook pop-ups necessary for us members? I don't like pop-ups at the best of times and ones like EF's (where the whold screen darkens a bit except for the pop-up is annoying. This happened while at work earlier except I could 't see the pop-up because of my work. Can these please be shut off? If I want to hit a like or share button I will do so on my own accord.

    Can you get the tech team to turn it off? it's really annoying. It also doesn't work properly on my mobile, so it's a pain to get my mobile fix

    Not to mention it's also set to re-rear it's ugly head every 15 days when the cookie expires

    Re: Please Remove Pop-ups

    The best bit is, it will keep re-appearing every 15 days (or when you clear your cookies) - whichever is sooner

    Re: Please Remove Pop-ups

    Because that's in the code in launch.js (abridged and commented (in orange) by me )
    PHP Code:
    $j(document).ready(function(){

    //When the Document Loads check the settings for the plug in and read the cookie
        //lb_l_ret.show_once = 15
        //Cookie sets whether the Facebook box has been seen

    if (lb_l_ret.show_once>&& readCookie("arevico_lb")==1)
        {

    //So if the cookie has a value of 1
            //And lb_l_ret.show_once > 0
            //Then Do Nothing

    } else {

    //Otherwise if the cookie has not been set or lb_l_ret.show_once=0, then create & show the facebook box with a delay

    window.setTimeout(show_faceboxlb_l_ret.delay)
        }

    });

    function
    show_facebox(){
        if (
    lb_l_ret.show_once>0){

    //When the facebook thing is shown, create a cookie
            //lb_l_ret.show_once = 15

    createCookie("arevico_lb""1"lb_l_ret.show_once);
        }

    function
    createCookie(name,value,days) {

    //If the days paramater has been passed, set the expiry of the cookie to be the same as days
        //Remember 15 has been passed in here
        //So in 15 days the cookie will expire and disappear

    if (days) {
            var
    date = new Date();

    date.setTime(date.getTime()+(days*24*60*60*1000));
            var
    expires "; expires="+date.toGMTString();
        }
        else var
    expires "";

    document.cookie name+"="+value+expires+"; path=/";
    }

    function
    readCookie(name) {
        var
    nameEQ name "=";
        var
    ca document.cookie.split(';');
        for(var
    i=0;ca.length;i++) {
            var
    ca[i];
            while (
    c.charAt(0)==' 'c.substring(1,c.length);
            if (
    c.indexOf(nameEQ) == 0) return c.substring(nameEQ.length,c.length);
        }

    Re: Please Remove Pop-ups

    As far as I am concerned, it is an unwarranted and unnecessary intrusion and yet another nail in the coffin.

    Small changes and irritations mount up. Role title restructuring with no communication, discussion or buy-in; Commercial Services Forum introduced without communication, discussion, or buy-in; and now mither pop-ups with no communication, discussion or agreement. Oh, yes, the pop-up tool-bar irritant with no communication, discussion or buy-in.

    I'm sensing a theme here. It's not that I'm against change or improvements but I do think it would be helpful to share these ideas with the senior members and seek some feedback. I have no doubt that people would be happy to offer their opinions.

    I would think that nobody is against change or improvements but all these additions, without improvements can be REALLY annoying to say the least.

    And then to get basically no response from the admin (not pointing fingers, just facts) is kind of a kick to the nethers too.
