Thank you for the link. Seems to me that this Richard was quite a controversial character in many ways, success and some mishaps perhaps, but still notorious.

The vice-grip is a simple and effective brilliant replacement for a steering wheel. With a steering wheel one's arms get twisted in an unmanageable crisis, whilst the vice-grip lends itself to be "in place" for whatever situation may arise, without having to revert to some kind of contortionist.
