Merge a new account with an old account?

    Hello administrators,

I have difficulties to find where I can ask this question to the administration so please bear with me

Initially I tried to log in to my old account (XL-Dennis) but since it was registered for 20 years ago I have since then changed e-mail address. Since I want to use that account I was forced to create a new account in order to communicate with you. But then I got carried away and started to interact with others with my new account. So now I also want to merge these post with the new account with the old account. Funny, when I looked on the old account I noticed the number of post is 0

Anyway, is it possible for me to get back my old account and merge my present post to it as well?

Sorry for my less good English, it's like myself old and rusty

    TIA!
    Kind regards,
    Dennis

It won't be possible to merge accounts, but contact either Ford (fdibbins) or Jeff (6StringJazzer) and one of them will be able to help you to resurrect the old account.

I suggest you stop posting until this has been done.

Woo Hoo!! Something worked as expected.

Before we all get carried away...

Is your forum profile showing the Excel PRODUCT that you currently use?

The best solutions often rely on knowing WHICH Office PRODUCT (Excel, NOT Windows) that you have. Please check that your forum profile is up-to-date. If you aren't sure, in Excel go to File/Account and report what it says below the MS logo at the top of that page. If your version is for Mac, please also state this.

The three most recent Excel PRODUCTS are Excel 2019, Excel 2021 and MS365 - if you are using MS365, please give this name along with the Version number in your profile (e.g. MS365 (PC) Version 2211). The version number is in the About Excel section further down the Account page.

    Cheers,

    Glenn.

Well, there's something I thought was impossible - kudos to Jeff!!! Glad it's sorted.

However, your posts from the old account have not carried across ...

Thank you for your trying to help me out.
Let me take the opportunity to present myself.
I started out with Multiplane and then moved to Lotus 1-2-3 and later I started to use Excel. At that time it was version 2.1D. It was in the 80's before MS started with the year version.
In the 90's I started to participiate in e-mail based Q&A forum to later on move to www based Q&A forums. Together with numerous articles on Excel I also started to answer questions on many (at that time) Excel forums. To sum this activity I guess it is >120 000 post. I have also been a administrator myself and done my share of that work. During some years I also was a regular publisher on the blog Daily Dose of Excel and I also published an article on Microsoft's blog. I co-authored the second edition of "Professionell Excel Development" aka PED back in 2009 together with Rob Bovey et al. I also contributed with material to other books and did occassionally also technical reviews.

I am a former MS MVP Excel, I beta tested Excel version 2010 and 2013 and did other stuff as well.

Finally, I ran my own Excel consult business for 40 years before retirement.

Today I am strongly committed to integrate Python with Excel, especially UDFs and data management.

The best part is that I have learned English and have friends around the world for life.

Now you know a little bit more about me 🙂

Thanks for taking the time to read this longer introduction.

Merge a new account with an old account?

    It's me again 😁
I am trying to figure out where my old post went 🙄
For now the total numbers of post is ca 11.
But what about older post? I asssume I made some post during the first year. Maybe old post was lost during some transition.

Pls don't put so much time into it. It's not that important.

Re: Next questions - number of post?

I told you they were missing - there really was no reason to start a whole new thread on this! I have merged the two.

You will need to see if Jeff can do anything about it.

Just common sense, really, but there is a rule that we don't allow duplicate threads on the same issue, as you will know, having read the forum rules.

Rules are based on common sense. I assume I follow the rules when I make use of my common sense. In other words, I don't disagree with you.
Of course I read the rules here when I signed up here the first time for 20 years ago 😁
