Hi all, I have a file that Excel is not able to recover and searched online for utilities to repair such files. Before I spend any money on one, I'm looking for recommendations. What has worked well for you?

You could try opening it in Libre Office or Google Sheets. Not sure how either of them would cope with workbooks with macros but you might be able to recover data and formulae.
Or, if it doesn't contain sensitive data, you could try posting it on the forum.

None of those options are suited for the situation, thanks all the same, Trevor. I have the masterfile, so there's no problem with loss of formulas. And the users have the data; I'd prefer they didn't have to re-enter it in a new file, a not insubstantial task.
I'm mostly interested to discover if any of the commercial recovery options work. As an Excel developer, naturally I want to solve my problems, but I've exhausted everything I know to recover a file.
OK, can't help then. Good luck.
