    Haha, good work.

What was nearly worrying is that I thought I would pinch that and forward it to my missus. I downloaded it to desktop, opened it and sent as attachment..... JUST noticed in time that the file name was Catherine and my other half is called Steph.

That could have caused problems, especially as we are getting married in 2 weeks!

In "our world" other halves who are impressed by spreadsheets are unquestionably worth their weight in gold... my wife normally just brings home some xls monstrosity from her accounts department and tells me to fix it ("make it so no1") ... then proceeds to look ever so vaguely interested for about 20 mins before glazing over despite my enthusiasm as I tell her just how cool the LOOKUP function really is ...

Enjoy the big day Simon - gone in a flash

Re: Stupid use of excel but my wife liked it

I actually get enough Excel requests from people at work that I've directed a few here. After all, as part of my company's IT group, I'm probably paid to help people with real important issues like why we won't allow them to go to see the latest hamster video on youtube.com, that they do not need to double-click on hyperlinks, and that the power button on the monitor does not mean that their PC is in fact turned on.

Some people should really only be allowed a dull pencil and some scratch paper. Excel is a dangerous weapon, especially with charts in hot pink and bright yellow.

Re: Stupid use of excel but my wife liked it

I dont miss those days too much, I learned the first things you ask are

    Is it turned on
    Is it plugged in
can you check its turned on and plugged in!

I did once have this diagnostic fail, I even checked all the above myself!

Again relying on the fact that I still had faith in people not being able to be that stupid, i was about to strip the PC down I wedged myself under the desk to unclip some cableties!

This is where I found the problem!

The power strip was plugged into its self, ok stupid me should have looked at the powerlight, but I had gone checked the breaker was working just incase!! (the wall socket wasnt visible from anywhere but under the desk!)
