    Talking Good or bad?

    Hey guys,

During the course of my 2 months experience at this forum (which has been very enjoyable), i have seen so many OP's asking - "How do i mark this post solved?" and then follows the instructions from the moderators.
There is another set of people who dont know how to attach files, since they are new to the forum and thats understandable and they receive their set of instructions. So that's something that can change for the better.

Have you observed / know of anything else that can change / should be changed? You are on here daily and surely your eyes would have caught something. C'mon we can just share them to lighten the day's burden

You can share some positives as well What say guys?

What i meant to ask was - there is good stuff going on in the forum and not so good stuff (like long methods to attach a file or confirm closure) which can be worked upon....any more suggestions?

Maybe if we have a sizeable number, we can all suggest it for improvement....after all, this forum is pretty famous on google already....(if you do a search, the forum / excel tip does pop up on the first page).

Attaching a file is pretty much the same on all Forums that allow this - can't be changed. If it takes too long it's probably your internet connection

    Re: Good or bad?

How about a quiz on the rules? You need a 90% before you can post.
Is your code running too slowly?
Does your workbook or database have a bunch of duplicate pieces of data?

Wouldnt it discourage more people from joining the forum? What if they feel its a longer procedure - answering the quiz, scoring 90%, if not, try again...then join....?

Most people just need a gentle steer in the direction of the rules page. Most people don't read them when they join, I know I didn't. The odd person takes the hump when you point out they've not used code tags/cross posted etc but they are passing up some of the best free help available. It's their loss.

It was easier to tell when he put them in The Joke Thread, although they weren't always much better

Dom, your words are hurtful. Where's the crying emoticon???

Although I was being facetious, there was a tinge of truth in there.
ROYuk, some would say all my answers are jokes.

    Re: Good or bad?

Of course people are going to understand how to post files... when they're posting, they're looking to solve a problem. There's incentive for them. There's no incentive for them to mark something as closed... The services have been rendered, they got what they wanted.
