    What are Friends for ?

Over the months, I've had about 10 friendship requests. I don't wish to appear discourteous, so I've accepted these each time, but I do wonder what I'm letting myself in for?

Do I have to remember their birthdays, send them periodic messages enquiring about their health, look out specifically for new posts from them on the Forum? Am I expected to offer them special tuition in Excel, or encourage them in their development, or name any grandchildren after them ?

So, what's the point of it? Are there any special advantages to having Friends on this Forum?

    Pete

Re: What are Friends for ?

lol good question Pete, i have wondered the same thing myself. the way i see it, it "may" make it easier to send a pm for help/advice if they are already on your "friend" list. apart from that, i await other replies

Yeah I'll have to tell you Pete, I don't know either.

I have received two friend requests lately to coincide with a visitor message they left me saying "Help".

I guess some feel if your friends with them then you surely come running at a moments notice.

Re: What are Friends for ?

I've had about a dozen friend requests. They've been split fairly evenly between people I "knew" relatively well, either as a moderator or through helping them, and complete strangers. I accepted people from the first group and rejected people from the second.

That said, there's been no dialogue between me and my friends so I agree, what's the point?

only thing I can think of is that there's an option to limit messaging to contacts and moderators. once someone is your 'friend' I don't know if you can stop them getting in touch ;-)

    Thanks Pete.
