I have mentioned this before, Saturday nite is backup nite time.
Are you seeing huge traffic on Saturday that the backup process should be moved to Sunday instead? Vai and the tech team had evaluated the traffic coming in through the week and found that there is less traffic on Saturday and hence fixed the backup time as that day of every week.

"Saturday night" must be different times for different people. So some may be asleep, but others may not depending on where in the world they are.

I agree with Joseph. I visit other websites (which must presumably have their own backup procedures in place) and I'm not aware of any specific times when they are unresponsive due to the backup taking place.
