Does anyone know if the member that one adds to one's "ignore list" is warned that he is on that list?

We could try to find out. I'll put you on my ignore list now, and add you back tomorrow. See if you get a notif of any kind.
I just added you to my ignore list. Let's just hope I'll be able to revert this action. :-)))
Teylyn, if you ignore me I will surely die ....
This being said, nothing seems to happen.
I do wonder if I put somebody on my "Block PM from" list if this will genrate a message to the sender?

Pepe le Mokko, I've just removed you from my ignore list.

Hmm?
Loosely related to this thread.
Seems there is a forum black list somewhere. Just noticed this in the "Un-answered Threads" > "Yesterday" header
Type: Posts; Date is After 08-10-2013; At Most 0 replies; Excluded Forums: The Water Cooler, Offenders List, Suggestions for Improvement, Hello..Introduce yourself; Keyword(s):
Thanks for removing Teylyn. You saved my life .
I saw no difference anywhere so I suppose the " ignored one" is not warned automatically. Would it improve the forum by doing so?
Marcol,
The offenders list you are seeing is where all the warnings and infractions given out are listed. It has nothing to do with the ignore list.

Funny, I mis-spelled Pepe le Mokko's name in my reply. I edited the reply and corrected it. I saw the corrected reply after submitting. Now I see the original post without the corrections.
Arlu, any insights on that? What does it take for an edit to "take"?
The backups run at this time, so its possible the corrected post was not considered while the indexing was being done. Can you please try again and let me know if it still does not work?
I think that would be a good idea. The OP would then know that they messed up.I saw no difference anywhere so I suppose the " ignored one" is not warned automatically. Would it improve the forum by doing so?
If you're happy with someone's help, click that little star at the bottom left of their post to give them Reps.

If a backup or other back-end process does not honour edits that occur while the process is running, then the system is truly messed up.
So now I need to remember what day of the week, what time of day it is, and then go back to the posts that I submitted during the "critical" period to find out if my edits are still there?
Before I embark on that one, let me take a walk around the block.
Thats not what i meant. Sometimes, if your posts come thru when the backup process is running, there are tendencies to see missed post counts, double posts etc as the forum performance lags during that period.
And, with that knowledge, what might they do? Apologise? You wouldn't see that because you wouldn't see any posts from them. Or, if they were vindictive ... and why did you put them on the ignore list in the first place ... they might give negative rep on other posts in other threads. Just maybe, I don't know if that is possible. The OP would then know that they messed up.

I beg to be excused, but if the back-end (backup process) messes up the regular forum behaviour, then there is something fundamentally wrong with it. I am a member of many, many other vBulletin based forums, and have never, ever, experienced the kind of trouble that seems to be plaguing this forum.
This point is moot, though, since it has been mentioned many times, by many long-serving members, but apparently the tech team clearly lacks the capacity to solve these issues, otherwise it would have been done three years ago. Simon has offered help to get your stuff sorted. Many, many times. His forum does not show the inexplicable issues that your forum does.
I need to take another walk around the block.
Good points Trevor, I never thought of those.
