The following is the revised level structure -
    - Registered User: New users
    - Forum Contributor: 60 days and 100 posts
    - Valued Forum Contributor : 120 days registered and 300 posts and 150 reputation points
    - Forum Expert: 360 days registered, 1200 posts and 600 reputation points
    - Forum Guru: promoted by voting from Forum Expert level
    - Forum Moderator: promoted from Forum Guru or Forum Expert level
    - Forum Administrator: promoted from Forum Moderator level
in the bottom part of forum-rules

beside.. that.. i think.. its should be kept aside only with guru's nd mod.. and let them decide the devils.. coz they are best in devil's work..

    @ Debraj Roy,

I am aware of those rules and nothing wrong in showing the limited level of data as shown in Post #1 for everyones view.

Re: Forum Guru Nomination / Rejection / Non Acceptance Status

Whilst it would be nice, some of the columns are superfluous, since guru acceptances are done through a vote, there won't really be a reason for rejection, nor will there be a singular guru/mod who has denied the promotion; a simple accept/reject number would be more useful - but it might be a bit harsh in some circumstances

In that case, we won't come to know who are all rejected the proposals if we just see the numbers

Re: Forum Guru Nomination / Rejection / Non Acceptance Status

Well you'd see who has been nominated and whether they were accepted or not. Or are you wanting the full results, so you can see who has voted against you and who voted for you?

I dont think it would be good to have these results SS, since it will only breed contempt in the forum. Its a free-world, so anyone is free to vote for any candidate. However, its also a secret ballot, so such results cant be disclosed.

    @ arlu1201,

No issues... it will be fine if you keep something which is shown in Post #1 to be visible for everyone.

Re: Forum Guru Nomination / Rejection / Non Acceptance Status

As you remember Arlette, accidentally, when i was promoted to Forum Guru i saw all the results. So i saw and i know who was voted for me and who against me! No hard feelings for anyone! As i told that time i just hope to proove to those that voted against me that they were wrong!!

But i have to agree with you that the reaction depands on the human. Eatch one of us has a different reaction!
    Regards

I remember Fotis and that happened accidentally. Before the promotions happen, the threads are deleted and yours was just a timing issue. But it has been the practice to delete all the threads pertaining to the voting before the change of level happens.

Re: Forum Guru Nomination / Rejection / Non Acceptance Status

I tend to agree that showing pretty much anything regarding the nomination/voting/rejection of this level - of any "voted on" level should not be made public.

As we have seen in the past, it takes very little to upset some members in this forum, and if we add to that, that a member was nominated for guru, and then rejected, that could lead to unnecessary friction, not to mention the potential embarrassment to that particular member.

When I was asked if I would accept mod status, it had already been decided to offer me the position. If I had been asked 1st, and then been rejected when it was put to the (secret) vote, I would not have felt too thrilled. As it was, I felt very surprised and privileged to be asked, considered the offer, and accepted.

There are only 2 levels (well 3, counting admin) that get voted on, and the vote (so far?) is by that level and above, please correct me if Im wrong, (gurus/mods/admin vote of guru, mods/admin vote on mods)

I just feel it would be better not knowing you were rejected, and its a GREAT feeling to ask, out of the blue, if you will accept

    @ JBeaucaire,

Would you mind adding "MAD" or "CRAZY" to your slogan of "Actually I *am* a rocket scientist", so that it reads something like "Actually I *am* a *CRAZY* rocket scientist"?

Actually, you are more than that. You are also a great philosopher, intellectually well balanced and focused.

I find most of your replies to posts, to be precise and well considered.

May I also add that it applies to almost every Administrator and/or Moderator and/or Members of this great Forum.

    Kind Regards

Re: Forum Guru Nomination / Rejection / Non Acceptance Status

Before the voting system was introduced all guru's that were demoted to experts have been asked to regain their guru status without any voting procedure. Several ex-gurus declined the 'offer'.
No votes about these accepted/declined 'offers' can be revealed since no voting took place. The suggested table can be filled with the ex-guru names that declined and those who accepted.

May I just ask why this old thread has been resurrected? JB just come back from holiday? The thread doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

It was being discussed referentially in another thread and I had never piped in here, so I took the chance to do so.
