    Hi zbor,

Sorry, I don't know the history here, but at the same time I think if the OP wants to start a discussion on renewable Energy sources at excelform then he should definitely be doing this in the Water Cooler. I don't see the problem or the rule that is being broken.

Yes, Watter Cooler is right place. And he didn't broke any rule so I didn't gave him any infraction.
But all of that look like spam preparing profile and I don't see point of his comments.
If you like to start renewable Energy sources topic on WC I will gladly participate

Until that I will close this topic ('cause it's off topic since post #1) but I will leave it open for a while if you want a closure

I can only see 1 thread started by the OP, but Im sure that zbor has his justifications for he comments. I know this is the water cooler, and "anything goes", but the thread title does seem a bit "off topic"

Not offensive, xladept, just irrelevant posts in random threads, followed by his own irrelevant thread. I expect he'd be happier on Twitter.

Re: Why dont we start discussion on renewable Energy sources?

Maybe there are threads/ posts that were deleted by admin/ moderators but what I see (s)he has 5 posts. Three of them were @synodbio thanking the person who provided a solution to another OP (I don't see anything wrong or weird about that). The last two posts are from a thread (s)he started (http://www.excelforum.com/access-tab...e-results.html). How does this constitute trolling (Urban Dictionary: "Being a prick on the internet because you can. Typically unleashing one or more cynical or sarcastic remarks on an innocent by-stander")? Again, there may be threads/ posts that were deleted and so I can't comment on them, but what I see either there is history that only a few members know about and isn't obvious to the rest of us or something else is causing this individual to get treatment that I wouldn't expect a newcomer to receive from the site's leaders.

Re: Why dont we start discussion on renewable Energy sources?

It's the concept of what moderators/ admin should be doing and what they shouldn't... people often will bring their desires and complaints about world events to the water cooler and I haven't seen anyone come out against that. Therefore I see a disconnect here (and I don't want to drag this on for too much or to read too much between the lines). If no one wants to comment on this thread then it will die out very quickly... so why threaten the OP???

I could have easily taken offense to this comment or responded in a sarcastic manner but it wouldn't add anything except animosity.

On the contrary to your suggestion zbor, I find a lot of equipment sold for 'renewable Energy sources' at the common general stores here because a lot of people camp, travel or live in remote areas of Canada where there is no electricity. I even know a colleague who has retried and has a cabin on a remote island where all their electricity comes from solar and wind energy. I personally would like to be more kind to the environment, but am limited by budget (e.g. can't afford an electric-run car) among other things.

I'm entirely with you on this one shg and zbor. Looks like the OP is testing how the forum reacts to irrelevant threads ( or future spam for that matter)

I think that's factually incorrect. Here's that thread:

    Wow, quite a relevant contribution.

At the end of the day, this is an Excel forum. If people interested in Excel want to go off track in the WC, I have no issue. They show up in Recent Posts, but there aren't so many that you need to spend time wading to find a thread about Excel. OTOH, if people with no interest in Excel want this to be a surrogate for Twitter or Dear Abby, the relevant content density will decrease dramatically.

Re: Why dont we start discussion on renewable Energy sources?

Then maybe the solution is to remove posts from the WC from appearing in the Recent Posts (like the 'introduce yourself' subforum). I understand your logic but we have seen what happens when 'mods' start to act like demigods... making decisions as they wish regardless of whether or not they have anything to do with the 'rules'.

With this logic, then anyone who asks a lot of questions in an incremental fashion then is really being paid by someone else to find a solution and he is just salami slicing the project and asking questions here on Excelforum to have others do the work for them. Even though this might be possible with some posters, how can we know for sure. How do we prevent posters from being discriminated against for no reason other than 'someone has a gut feeling that they are up to no good'.

Re: Why dont we start discussion on renewable Energy sources?

Sometimes you see spamming post after just one post. Sometimes you can't after few. I felt in this one as Tom Cruise in Minority Report. None usefull contributuion, only spamming potential posts. But I don't intend to waste my time to "know for sure" for someone who walks on edge. Time will do that for me. (I can solve few questions instead).
Nobody has been infracted for that it was just warning that he shouldn't continue in that direction. Feel that as you like.
If (s)he felt discriminated, it's not problem start all over again with just 5 posts on the Forum. No one will mind bad start.
If I see some real contribution (solving other people in Excel problems) from that user I might apologizes although I still feel my reaction was right (as I see most users agree with that).
Until that I'll close this thread as I said 'cause after 4 days inactivity everyone had chance to say what they wanted.
    Another privilege of demigods
