    Apology - forum etiquette

    All,

I wish to make an apology.

I recently sought help on the VBA forum here and was asked by someone to clarify some details of an example file. They were doing their best to understand my problem and I obviously hadn't been clear enough or provided too much detail and ended up being more confusing.

Anyway - I got partway through writing the code myself and got stuck. I then posted on another forum to ask for help - which was ably provided by StephenR. Only with Stephen's help was I able to solve the last part of the problem. I then posted back on the Excel Forum thread that "I had solved this myself" , with the final code and made a sarcastic comment about being neglected - this was a mistake.

See here for the original thread: http://www.excelforum.com/excel-prog...ml#post3579136

And here for the OzGrid Thread: http://www.ozgrid.com/forum/showthread.php?t=186060

I also broke a cardinal rule and did not cross post back to the Excel Forum thread...

I don't hide from the comments I made and wish to apologise for them unreservedly.

I hope my mistake is a good lesson for others - that even when you are frustrated people are giving their time for free and could well spend their time elsewhere.

    Regards,
    Zac

I didn't see the original thread but it sounds, from what you have said, that an apology was warranted (one way and another).

So, much appreciated ... and not something we see often. Thanks for having the courage to make it.

As has already been said, it takes courage to apologize, especially in a public forum. On behalf of apo, thank you for that. I know we all get wound up now and then

    Hi Malkier..

Thanks for taking the time to apologize. I respect that. I think we have all said something we later could have worded differently.. good on you for coming back and making peace.

I second what the others have said. Very courageous and honourable of you to take the time and effort to make this apology. And, like Pepe, I hope as well that this thread will be read by as large an audience as possible.

    Well done to you!
