    Stupid practices

I was out walking with my wife earlier today and she told me a story about a friend of a friend.

The gentleman in question went to his local General Practice Surgery to make an appointment with his doctor.

He stood at the reception desk and asked to make an appointment.

The receptionist told him that she was sorry but she could only make phone appointments.

He said, "but I'm here, can't you book me an appointment?" She said, "no, I'm sorry, we're only making phone appointments".

He asked her for the phone number, which she duly gave him.

He called the number from his mobile phone, and a telephone at the back of the reception area rang. Another lady picked it up.

He asked her if he could make an appointment with his doctor.

The second lady said she was sorry, but he had the wrong number and she couldn't make an appointment for him.

He asked her if she had the right phone number, which she gave him.

He called the second number, and the telephone on the receptionist's desk rang. She picked it up and brightly said, "hello".

He asked the receptionist if he could make an appointment with his doctor.

The two of them then had a brief discussion, agreeing a mutually convenient date and time, and nodding at each other as the conversation progressed.

Finally, he thanked her and left.

Sometimes you wonder ... I'm guessing the receptionist went home and told her partner about her busy day and how troublesome (potential) patients could be.

You just couldn't make it up

I used to live in Washington, D.C. - it seemed as though every clerk in every store resented your very presence!

This sounds ridiculous, what difference would it have made? All it needed was for her to have a bit of common sense.

Common Sense isn't all that common....I believe a Mark Twain quote, but don't quote me....

I was in a music shop looking for connectors for my Wife's keyboard. A gentlemen walked up to assist me. I told him what I was looking for and he looked up at the wall of connectors and said "this stuff just confuses me" Then he walked away never to return. And neither did I.

    Re: Stupid practices

I pulled into a parking stall at a local Walmart and as I did, a woman in the stall directly ahead of the stall I pulled into threw up her hands because she was going to drive out in a forward motion, until I pulled in. I thought I would be a nice guy so I backed out and pulled into a stall directly to the right. She then proceeded to pull forward and out all the while giving me the evil eye.

I was dumbfounded. First of all, she could have backed out of her stall, like most people do in parking lots. Secondly, she could have acknowledged my good deed with a wave or a smile but no....she felt that she was obviously entitled to drive straight out and to he77 with me.
