using advanced search

Has anyone used the forum advanced search function, and actually been able to find anything even remotely close to what they were searching for??

I tried to do a search for "sum across sheets", restricted to the past year..and guess what? I got everything from "Create a volume tracking table with VBA" to "Allow user to change source of link while password protected." to "I don't how to create a macro for my command button"....
170 pages - which I did no go through - but on the 1st sheet, nothing at all about summing across sheets

1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Ford,

I tried - Search single content type
keyword - sum across sheets, choose Search titles only in the dropdown
Search by prefix - any thread

and i got 50 pages with some matching titles.

Re: using advanced search

OK using "single content" filtered out 120 pages, leaving 50, but still, most returns have absolutely nothing to do with what I searched for

Re: using advanced search

Must agree. The Advanced Search is IMO of very limited usefulness.

Arlette, you might usefully flag this up with Vai if he's looking to increase the penetration of EF - see recent thread in Mods forum. A poor search function is not a good advert.

It's just vBulletin - the search is crap on ALL VB sites, it's not unique to ExcelForum.

If it dont work, eiother fix it or dont have it??

Most users probably dont know its a VB problem, and would consider that a shortcoming of our forum

Re: using advanced search

To be fair, judging by most posts on here, the majority of new members don't know how to use Google (or even think of using it), let alone a forum search...
