    Counting filtered cells using SUBTOTAL

I came across what I consider to be a very useful formula recently. SUBTOTAL. I have used it to count entries in a large database which has filters.

It allows for a quick answer to a request for breakdowns of the data no matter how many filters are applied as long as there are entries in each cell of the chosen range.

I've attached a small example with explanations which I hope will be helpful.

You can also use the subtotal Formula for "Sum" or averages, etc. It works great

It's a very useful function. The Excel Help files and Microsoft's website can provide more detail on its usage.
