When creating a letter via mailmerge, for some reason the 'datecreated' merge doesn't work.
Is there a way for the date to be put into the document template and not update automatically but will show the correct date it is made?

Insert an ordinary DATE field, then select it, press Ctrl-F9 to embed it in another field, thus { 03/06/2014 } (or whatever other date format you're using) and edit it so you see {QUOTE 03/06/2014 }. Using the QUOTE field means the current date will be made static in the output documents.

There's no such thing as a quite field - I said a QUOTE field...
That is what follows from I said. I note you refer to a template. Mailmerges should be run from mailmerge main documents, not from templates. So if I was to put that into my template today, then create a document tomorrow it would show 04/06/2014?
It was a typo! haha
We have our company software that contains our letter templates. When creating a document the merge of the date created field doesn't work. Therefore I need a way for the date to insert upon the creation of the document from the template in the database.
Does that make alittle more sense?
Instead of asking/explaining the same thing over and over, how about trying it...
