Is the Editing Language settings specified only the text you work at the moment or does it apply for all word files in your computer and the ones you will create?

Is the Editing Language settings specified only the text you work at the moment or does it apply for all word files in your computer and the ones you will create?
File - Options - Language - Editing Language
Unless you're making the change to the document's template, those settings apply only to the current document. Even if you apply them to the document template, it won't change the settings for any existing documents or for new documents based on different templates.
