Linking one text to multiple locations on one document

How would I link line of text to appear at multiple parts of a document?

    Example

    Tom Nationwide
    Anytown, USA, 12345

    Amount Paid $1,000.00

Thank you for your payment of (AMOUNT PAID).

I want to be able to change the amount of $1,000.00 at the top of the document to reflect a new amount that would then translate to where I have written (AMOUNT PAID) in the text line.

    How would I do this?

Sorry if this is a noob type question but that's what I am

    Hi,

you need to insert an ASK field that will ask for the value and assign it to a book mark. Then insert a REF field in all locations where you want to display the value.

Insert the fields with the dialog Insert - Field, then select the ASK field from the list on the left and fill in the details. For the REF field just select the bookmark.

Hit ctrl-A and then F9 to update all fields and the ASK field will come up with a dialog box where you can enter the value. After you hit OK, that value will be pushed to all REF fields.

    see attached.
