Word2003: ComboBox to Select from List of Addressess, Place into Proposal

    Hello:
I am using an application that mailmerges a proposal with Word2003 (unfortunately, nothing newer).
On the cover page of the proposal, I need the user to be able to select his/her office address from a combobox list of 5-6 addresses. The output should be a clean-looking address without the combobox border. Maybe it's not a combobox I'm looking for but I need the user to choose.
    Thank you!
    Charlie

You can use the following process to create a dropdown selection list:

    1. Save your mailmerge main document as a template (i.e. Word .dot format).

    2. Insert an AutoTextList field, by pressing Ctrl-F9 to create a pair of field braces (i.e. { }), then filling in between them, thus:
    {AUTOTEXTLIST "Office Addresses: Right-click to select a name" \s OfficeAddresses \t "Right-click to select an Office Address"}
This field code: names the field "Office Addresses"; uses the \s switch to specify a new Style named 'OfficeAddresses'; and uses the \t switch to provide some hover-tip text.

    3. When you’re done, press F9 to update the field, which will display:
Office Addresses: Right-click to select a name.

    4. Create a list of Office Addresses, for example:
St Matthew, St Mark, St Luke, St John, St Jude, St Peter, St Paul
Each Office Addresses can have multiple lines.

Note: The maximum length of an AutoText entry is 32 characters.

    5. Select the paragraph(s) of Office Addresses and assign the Style name 'OfficeAddresses' to them.

    6. Select each Office Address from the list in turn and press Alt F3>OK or choose Insert|AutoText|New>OK. By default, Word will assign the entry to your template.

    7. Delete the Office Address list.

    8. Now, right-clicking on the field will allow you to select one of the names (which appear in alpha-order) from the list.

Note: Office Address entries will be listed in alphabetic order. If you need to, you can add more Office Addresses to the list by repeating steps 4-6. Similarly, you can use Insert|AutoText|AutoText to delete unwanted entries.

From now on, run your mailmerges from the template, not from your former mailmerge main document.
